Exam Success
We are delighted with the recent success of our two Rehabilitation and Technical Officers who have passed further examinations. Jean Riley, who works at the headquarters in Carlisle, and Naomi Monaghan, based in the Barrow office, are both technical equipment officers who have gained their Excel Diplomas, Level 3, in Rehabilitation and Equipment for Deaf People.
Jean, who has been working in this area for 12 years and has been trying to get on the course for some time, said: “I am delighted to have passed the exam.”
Naomi added: “It’s great to have two fully trained officers, especially in rehabilitation. I am grateful to DeafVision for supporting us through our diplomas.”
Following Jean and Naomi's successful completion of their diplomas it was felt that a change of title was needed to better reflect the rehabilitation role they do. So from now on Jean and Naomi's job title is to become Rehabilitation and Technical Officer (RTO) and the service will be the Rehabilitation and Technical Service (RTS).
John Brown the Chief Executive said: “I am delighted that we now have two fully qualified and experienced staff working across the county from our bases in Barrow and Carlisle. Jean and Naomi have considerable expertise in helping to make life easier for people who are profoundly Deaf, deafened, and hard of hearing, also people who have a dual sensory loss.
We are indebted to Cumbria County Council for their support in ensuring that this excellent service is made available to the people of Cumbria.”
