Gig for a Good Cause
A local lady, Sarah Nugent, and DeafVision Rehabilitation & Technical Officer, Naomi Monaghan, decided to raise deaf awareness and money for the organisation.
Naomi Monaghan is well placed to know the problems that deaf people can face in Barrow and throughout Cumbria.
Her fiance, Mark Preston, is in a band: Lovers of the Arctic Circle, with Sarah, and they played a gig in Barrow on Saturday 27th September. Local poet Ann Wilson and musician Danny Lewthwaite were also there to support them. The £2 charge on the door was given straight to DeafVision. Naomi also arranged for some collecting tins to be about the place. The Ambrose pub on Duke Street, just down the road from DeafVision’s Barrow office was the venue.
The evening raised ₤ 95.00 Naomi said: “Sarah arranged this gig at the last minute and we were pleased with the turnout. I would like to say a huge thank you to her, the band, the other performers and everyone who turned up.”
